Thurston's Field Notes: Aburrey Quarry

Body discovered in the depot area of Aburrey Quarry, Valley IV. Positioned semi-upright. Large electrical burn on the back, extensive bruising and apparent internal bleeding in the throat. Preliminary cause of death: cardiac arrest from electrocution.

Cross-referencing internal files confirms the victim is "Will-o-Wisp" Vichir, a pyromancer. Bonekrusher pyromancers are practically historic symbols. These guys can focus, raise a hand, and teleport through flames with ridiculous flexibility.

But here's the thing: Vichir died in the worst possible position ... trapped within a high voltage fence. I can almost picture agile Vichir blinking around while being systematically cornered...

Wait ... that's what doesn't add up.

Vichir only has throat bruising and back burns, no blunt or sharp weapon injuries. Why?

Did the attacker come unarmed?

Vichir and the attacker were both trapped by the high voltage fence. A situation equally bad for both, or worse for the attacker since Vichir had numbers on his side...

There's only one plausible scenario. A pyromancer trapped in close quarters would instinctively teleport immediately. The attacker anticipated this: striking Vichir's throat violently and fast, interrupting the transfer... Energy trapped inside his body explains the internal bleeding...
