Thurston's Field Notes: Origin Lodespring

Body discovered at the Blightcliff Observation Post in Valley IV, positioned lying down. Aside from a deep laceration at the throat, no other fresh significant wounds were found. Presumed cause of death: cardiopulmonary failure due to excessive blood loss and suffocation.

Given the wound's location in a commonly fatal area, I initially suspected the victim was sniped by a crossbow from the front. However, the depth and width of the injury don't support this theory. Based on the width, it would have required a massive bolt, but even if removed afterward, it should have penetrated deeper rather than merely slicing the artery.

If the bolt had been fired from extreme range with depleted kinetic energy, hitting the throat accurately at that distance would be nearly impossible. Currently, the only weapon on-site capable of firing such a bolt appears to be the powerful crossbow beside the deceased.

I believe the more likely scenario is another: the victim used the arrowhead to inflict self-harm, then discarded it.

Cross-referencing image data and assessing the scene, it's speculated he may be "Bloodeye" Sazaro, an important clan cadre with many loyal followers. His adherents all carry black fowlbeast pendants as symbols.

But this means a combat-capable leader, for unknown reasons, chose suicide... All occurring during the Bonekrushers' invasion of Valley IV.

While I don't intend to sympathize with him, a perpetrator dying this way mid-harm is clearly not a common situation...
