Samivegr
Samivegr, a Sami term that literally translates to "The Way to Sami", is the primary habitat of various Sami tribes in Talos-II. The Samifjod (Sami people) also registered their community in the Band Accord under this name. Located near the Order of Steel Oath forts, the cold and frigid Samivegr is also the northernmost settlement of sizable scale on Talos-II.
The Samifjod's journey from Terra to Talos-II was rather unique. They did not follow any of the Science Expedition convoys. Instead, they rode on a Feranmut's back to cross the space-time boundary. This particular Feranmut, also named "Sami" (and sometimes referred to as the "All-Father"), is one of the largest Feranmut specimens known to humanity. The Civilization Band knows little about its past experiences in Terra. From the oral traditions of the Samifjod, after accepting revelations of "hunt", "rest", and "choose" and divinations from sixteen major assemblies, the Samifjod decided to follow the Feranmut to "new lands" and devote themselves to the "new mission granted by the All-Father".
The Feranmut Sami later fell in war. Its carcass then changed the local environment and transformed it into the "Samivegr" region we know today.
Most of the Samifjod in Samivegr adhere to their ancient way of life and traditions. They are divided into many tribes scattered across the land, each led by a leading caster known as the "Snowpriests". The Assembly of Snowpriests serves as the representative of the various tribes and partakes in various affairs of the Civilization Band. Given their long martial traditions that survive till this day, the tribes are famous for raising many excellent fighters. To date, Samivegr tribal volunteers remain the most important and stable source of recruits for the Order of Steel Oath.
A typical Samifjod would say that they have nothing in Talos-II except enemies and methods for making war against them, and they do not need anything to change this fact. The name "Samivegr" is their collective interpretation and manifestation of their spirit: The All-Father has died for us, but His way has remained, and His will is eternal.
