Blightshades
According to the field of Æther sciences in the Civilization Band, "Blightshades" are considered extremely rare phenomena of Æther activity.
Blightshades represent a form of "Æther-replicated entity" capable of autonomous actions and high levels of aggression. According to existing witness reports, Blightshade entities are extremely rare, appearing only where Æther activities are most active or in the worst Blight-stricken areas.
Blightshade entities would replicate the form of a biological organism under the direct influence of Æther activities and when completely consumed by Blight matter. In the absence of external stimuli, most Blightshade entities would mimic basic behavioral patterns of their source organisms while alive. When disturbed, Blightshade entities would exhibit advanced motor functions and cognition, and assume a behavioral pattern that seeks to violently remove or destroy the source of disturbance. Researchers have received isolated reports of Blightshade entities attempting to communicate, though no solid evidence has been secured so far.
The mainstream hypothesis for the existence of Blightshades and their behavioral principles proposes that: Blightshades, in essence, are sites of weak Æther activities fixed in the material universe, and are manifestations of residual data of dead lifeforms that cannot be completely removed. However, even though Blight-handling personnel of various Band factions have accumulated substantial experience in dealing with Blightshades, the existence and behavioral principles of such entities remain an inexplicable mystery.
