IR: Apparition Behavior
Endministrator, we received the data you uploaded.
I am happy to see that the content of these uploads neither involves serious issues nor somber history. You are exhausted and very much injured. It gladdens us to see that you managed to catch a break during the mission and secured a chance to appreciate the wonders of Talos-II.
You have started an investigation of Apparitions, objects animated by the powers of the Feranmut "Sui". We believe official data provided by SOW is more than sufficient: "There are also many forms of Apparitions. The most well-known are Ink Spirits created by the act of painting, and Waregeists, which are mundane objects and utensils imbued with the powers of 'Sui'." Such details would not be repeated here. Instead, this IR shall focus on Apparition behaviors and modi operandi, as well as various relevant witness reports on that said focus.
Apparitions naturally exhibit a wide variety of behaviors, but our existing information is unable to completely verify the underlying principles that govern said variety. Experts in Feranmut studies believe that the basic foundation of Apparition behavior is largely a gift from its creator, or in other words, its creator's idea and/or expectation on what it should become. However, the creator often created small or interesting Apparitions without a strong idea or deliberate intent in mind. Also, where the Apparition was once a tiny pool of ink or a worn object, its behavior might be influenced by its immediate environment or the people it comes into contact with.
Intel that Wuling shared with us contains this record: A Tube Professor (Protocol Datalogger), after being turned into an Apparition by the Proxy's influence, began wandering aimlessly around the streets of Wuling. When encountering patrolling watchguards, the Tube Professor started sharing AIC Factory know-hows, a verbose session that lasted several hours until the stores along the streets were about to open for business. Only then did the Tube Professor agree (with some hesitation) to leave with the Yinglungs who arrived to verify the encounter.
This incident showed that their behavioral patterns can be quite chaotic and unpredictable, and are extremely difficult to summarize. You have spent quite a while in the Painting and met plenty of Apparitions. Driven by their own spiritual essence, they were able to live and act according to their own will. Perhaps that is why they are such lovely things, aren't they?
