Letter: Tucked Between the Pages
Ma:
Hope this letter finds you well. How are you doing? I heard you coughing during the last call. Try to get something warmer because weather's getting colder.
I'm doing pretty well here. Work at the Records Hall isn't too hard. Remember that Conference I mentioned? The results are out and ... they didn't choose my proposal. Welp. It's alright, I guess. Some higher-ups met me in private to talk about this. My approach was sound and I'll still have my chance. No need to worry about me, Ma. I'll keep working on it.
Oh yeah, did you try the cake I sent you? It's a local snack with quite an interesting taste. If you like it, I'll send two more boxes back home. Our neighbors might like it.
One more thing. You kept telling me to settle down. Guess what? I think I found someone, so it's one less thing to worry about... Yeah. I'll tell you more once I head back next time.
And please do look after yourself. Try to visit your old BFFs, you know. It's unhealthy to stay indoors by yourself.
Your little boy is doing alright in this pretty big world. I just kinda miss those braised meat noodles you make, though.
Loving Son, Ji Lansheng
