Ancestral Spring
The residents of Qingbo Stockade named a natural source of water within the Stockade their Ancestral Spring. Rumors claim that the Ancestral Spring is capable of purifying the Blight and dispelling external threats.
Folklore of the Stockaders claims that the Ancestral Spring was first discovered by the founders of Qingbo Stockade when they sought refuge at this location. The ability of the Ancestral Spring to purify the Blight became the key feature upon which the Stockaders built their community. For years, the Stockaders held ceremonies and festivals at the Ancestral Spring. They also furnished it with water-collecting waterwheels and bamboo water chimes as tokens of remembrance for the deceased. All sorts of myths and legends revolve around the Ancestral Spring, gradually transforming the source of water into the foundation of the Stockaders' faith.
Unknown to most, the purifying powers of the Ancestral Spring were not a miracle. They were actually achieved by the presence of a Yanese irrigation machine located at the bottom of the Ancestral Spring. This machine was installed over a century ago by Yanese Tianshi, and it kept the water clean by separating the Blight from the flowing aquifer. Given its age and lack of maintenance, the Blight buildup within the machine was close to reaching critical levels and posed a risk to Qingbo Stockade located at the ground level above. In the end, a knowledgeable Stockade resident sincerely asked the Endministrator to seal the machine with Originium Arts, thus ending the extended and exhausting operational run of the machine.
Though the Ancestral Spring has lost its "special powers" from the past, many Stockade residents believe that the spring is still protected by the gods. The irrigation machine that rests quietly at the spring will eventually be swallowed by time, though it may be the last witness to a particular period in history.
