Yan

Yan is an ancient empire located in the eastern parts of Terra. It is a vast and populous country well known for its long history.

Yan boasts robust public healthcare and education systems as well as a stable and safe society. For many years, Yan maintained a largely isolationist and peaceful stance, actively refraining from interfering in the affairs of other nations. Yanese messengers and Tianshi, authorized by imperial edicts, would only leave the borders and engage in diplomacy when an emergency made this approach the only resort.

Yan's head of state is the Emperor, who also bears the title of "True Lung". The vast empire is governed by the imperial court — a centralized administrative collective comprising the Emperor, the Cabinet, and the Six Ministries (Personnel, Revenue, Rites, War, Justice, and Works) — as well as a bureaucracy that extends into every administrative division of Yan. Operating under the Six Ministries are specialized state organs, including the Imperial Astronomers and the Sui Regulator, the latter of which is charged with monitoring the fragments of the Feranmut Sui and thus possesses vast knowledge related to the Feranmuts. Those who serve within this organization are known as Candleholders. The Sui Regulator continues to play a crucial role in scientific research and development at the Hongshan Academy of Sciences on Talos-II.

Yan's powerful military is the main reason the country is respected by its neighbors. Among its armed forces, the Imperial Guards are the most powerful and elite formation. They serve as guardians of the True Lung, protectors of the core interests and order of the empire, and supreme executors of the will of the Yanese nation. The selection process for the Imperial Guards is extremely strict, and every Imperial Guard is a formidable combatant. Under the Yanese political system, the Imperial Guards represent an "unshakable order" and their mere presence imposes a powerful deterrent. The Imperial Guards of Talos-II, however, pale in scale when compared to their Terran counterpart. Their mission and composition have also undergone various changes.
